Boss Fight[]
Overview[]
The Dweller of Woe has two phases and is fought with Zale, Valere, and Headmaster Moraine as playable characters, and Erlina and Brugaves as supporting characters. The player controls the actions of the former three Solstice Warriors while the latter two use random attacks and effects.
Headmaster Moraine has two types of combat actions: Hold Rune and Heal. Holding the rune in place allows the others to inflict more damage against the Dweller of Woe, while healing restores 35 HP to each Solstice Warrior at the end of each playable character's turn.
Although Brugaves and Erlina seemingly deal damage to the Dweller of Woe and her copies, the numbers displayed on the actual Dweller of Woe are a trick, as these two supporting characters only deal damage against the copies and deal 0 damage against the actual Dweller of Woe. They can, however, still assist in battle by removing locks and healing the party.
Brugaves's regular attack damages and removes 3 blunt locks on a single target, while his Moonchakus skill randomly distributes 3 moon projectiles amongst the available targets, damaging them and removing up to 3 moon locks. Erlina's regular attack removes 1 sun lock and can damage several targets, while her Searing Pyramid skill damages and removes 2 sun locks on a single target. She can perform Healing Rain, which heals each Solstice Warrior by 115 HP. Brugaves and Erlina's combo move, Sunchakus, randomly distributes 3 solar-charged lunar projectiles amongst the available targets, damaging them and removing up to 3 sun and 3 moon locks.
The Dweller of Woe's first move of phase 1 is always Mirror Images. During the transition to phase 2, all CP, Lunar Shields, and Live Mana are removed, any knocked-out playable characters are revived, and the total the number of times they have been knocked out is reset, though HP and MP of the playable characters are otherwise retained.

The Dweller of Woe summons 1 or 2 weaker duplicates of herself, depending on the number of locks remaining. The duplicates are only able to perform regular attacks. Only a maximum of 2 duplicates can be present on the battlefield, so Mirror Images cannot be cast unless the number of duplicates is lower than that amount. Any duplicates that are on the battlefield at the end of phase 1 are automatically destroyed.

The Dweller of Woe possesses a random Solstice Warrior (except Moraine) and has that character attack another random Solstice Warrior. If Zale or Valere are possessed, this move restores 3 MP, as if they performed a regular attack.
Spectral Scythes[]

The Dweller of Woe hits all Solstice Warriors 1 to 3 times, depending on the number of locks remaining.

Prior to the "Dawn of Equinox" game update, this attack could not be blocked, even though the playable characters could perform the guarding animation.
Main Story[]
After Ewilda, the love of Duke Aventry, was murdered by Three of the Fleshmancer Acolytes while Aventry was away, a Seed of Evil was planted within Aventry Manor. A few centuries later, it grew into the Dweller of Woe.
During the events of the game, the Dweller of Woe uses her song to enchant townspeople from the Town of Lucent and lure them into the Haunted Mansion, where they do not return. Headmaster Moraine leads the Solstice Warriors, Erlina, Brugaves, Zale, and Valere, accompanied by Garl, to confront the Dweller of Woe, as they see her as a possible threat to become a World Eater. The group then engages her in battle, and she is forced into her true form and defeated by the group. Before her core is destroyed, two of the Solstice Warriors, Erlina and Brugaves, betray the group and summon a blood moon, using the Dweller core to resurrect the Dweller of Strife at the behest of the Fleshmancer Acolytes.
