Compendium Description[]
Headmaster Moraine
Lunar Mage
A potent mage born during a Winter Solstice. Moraine's Lunar Sceptre acts as a catalyst allowing him to weave powerful spells.
Despite his seemingly unlimited potential, Moraine lost his will to fight after the losses incurred while taking down the Dweller of Strife decades ago. As the last Solstice Warrior, he took up the mantle of Zenith Academy's Headmaster in order to train Erlina and Brugaves, who were delivered by the great eagle shortly after the tragedy.

Main Story[]
Before the events of Sea of Stars, Moraine was a Lunar Mage within the order of Solstice Warriors, which at the time had dozens of members. He inherited the title of headmaster after being the sole survivor of the cleansing organized against the Dweller of Strife. Because of this, he was left as the only fully-trained Solstice Warrior. Deeply traumatized by those events and urgently desperate to rebuild the order before a World Eater could rise, he became very strict in teaching his pupils, Erlina and Brugaves. Not long later, newborns Valere and Zale were delivered to Mooncradle by the Great Eagle, giving the order two additional members.
By the time Sea of Stars begins, Moraine's relationship with his first pair of students has not improved much. Insisting the order still serves a purpose even with vastly reduced numbers, he completes the training of Zale and Valere as preparations for the cleansing of the Dweller of Woe reach their climax. When the Solstice Warriors unite at Wraith Island for the cleansing, he tasks the others to clear out the Dweller's minions from the Haunted Mansion while he breaks the seal to the Dweller's chamber. During the Dweller fight, he serves to enhance the Solstice Warriors attacks and keep them in good health. Before the Dweller core can be eliminated, Erlina and Brugaves betray the order, summoning the Fleshmancer Acolytes and the blood moon, allowing the Dweller core to be reborn into a resurrected Dweller of Strife.
This turn of events shatters Moraine's will to continue the fight. After the chaos following the Dweller's return is handled by his second set of students, he officially resigns from the order altogether, tearing off his sleeves and dropping his staff for good. Despite this, he provides what advice he can to the remaining two members before taking up the role of Town Elder for the refugees in Mirth. Aside from when he returns to Mooncradle to officiate a funeral, he remains in Mirth for the rest of the story.
