Arcane runes are the writing system used in the universe of The Messenger and Sea of Stars. They are based off of the English language.

Kickstarter Trailer

A "Dynamic Lighting" wheel containing alphabetic runes is showcased in the Sea of Stars Kickstarter trailer. Clockwise, it displays the letters B-M, O-Z, then repeats with B-M and O-Z again.

A "Dynamic Lighting" wheel containing alphabetic runes is showcased on the Sea of Stars official website. Clockwise and with appropriate spacing, it reads "HAVING SEEN THE FUTURE WE MUST PREVENT LEARN NOW OF ITS ORIGINS."

Kickstarter Stretch Goals

During the Sea of Stars Kickstarter campaign, after the fourth stretch goal was reached, an unknown fifth stretch goal was teased. Around its teaser image are letters that read "THE WATCHMAKER BECKONS."

Solstice Tournament Trophy

During an ARG event that occurred in the official Sabotage Studio Discord server from January 22 to April 15, 2021, sun and moon Solstice Warriors participated in multiple rounds of a great snowball fight, with a promise that the winning solstice team would have their names immortalized onto an in-game trophy. The tournament ended with sun and moon Solstice Warriors agreeing to end the tourney in a draw.

The in-game trophy is a stone tablet located within Headmaster Moraine's office in Zenith Academy. The names, which are encoded in runes, are beneath two groups labeled "MOON" and "SUN" for the respective teams.

Wyrd Concept Artwork

The Sea of Stars Digital Artbook has concept artwork for Wyrd on page 36. One of the concept artworks has the word "DUM" written in runes across Wyrd's chest, which might be shorthand for "dummy," as its internal name is "TrainingDummy."

End of the Year 2023 Poster

On December 22, 2023, Sabotage Studio made a post celebrating the upcoming end of the year on their various social media profiles. The post included an image with the majority of Sea of Stars characters and 24 runes hidden within it. With appropriate spacing, it reads "MALEVOLENT SPCTACLE AWAITS." Thierry Boulanger, the main writer and director of Sea of Stars, revealed that the image was intended to contain 25 runes that would read "MALEVOLENT SPECTACLE AWAITS."
