The Sea Slug is a boss in Sea of Stars. It is encountered in the Sealed Docarri Ruins.
Profile[]
Appearance[]
The Sea Slug is a reskin of the Bosslug, sharing a majority of its features while using a different color palette. Unlike the Bosslug, it does not have spikes on its back and instead has four thin, bioluminescent fins which glow in a light blue color. Its mouth has the same color. A majority of its upper body is dark blue, while the lower half has a beige color scheme. This also applies to all of its spikes and antennae.
Boss Fight[]
Overview[]
The Sea Slug is fought with Valere, Zale, Seraï, Resh'an, and B'st as the available party members. Its first move of the battle is always a regular attack that strikes once rather than twice in a row, followed by the 4-lock version of Acid Bug Bombs, followed by another instance of a regular attack that strikes once.
The Sea Slug has all of the same moves as its Bosslug counterpart, though its Tantrum ability deals more damage, it has no sun and moon weaknesses, and it has much more health. The Sea Slug's Bossbugs have much higher health and defenses compared to Bosslug's Bossbugs, but they now have a venom weakness.
Skills (Bosslug)[]
Regular Attack[]
Timer | Target | Strikes |
---|---|---|
1-3 | 1 party member | 1-2 |
The Sea Slug spits 1 or 2 purple orbs at a single party member.
Tantrum[]
Threshold | Target | Strikes |
---|---|---|
840 HP depleted | All party members | 1 each |
2,100 HP depleted | ||
3,360 HP depleted |
The Sea Slug slams the cave walls to make rocks hit all party members, leaving each party member with 1 HP remaining; this holds true even if a party member only has 1 HP to begin with. Otherwise, with the Artful Gambit equipped, a successful block only depletes 1 HP, unless it is their last HP, in which case, it leaves the party member with 1 HP remaining. This attack ignores any Lunar Shields, destroying one of them in the process.
Acid Bug Bombs[]
Locks | Timer | Summon | Max Amount |
---|---|---|---|
2-lock permutation, allowing for repetition, of | 1 | Bossbug | 2 |
4-lock permutation, allowing for repetition, of | 4 |
The Sea Slug summons 1-4 Bossbugs to aid it in battle, summoning the same number as the number of locks that are left. Any Bossbugs that are on the battlefield when the Sea Slug is defeated are automatically destroyed.
Skills (Bossbug)[]
Regular Attack[]
Timer | Target | Strikes |
---|---|---|
1-3 | 1 party member | 1 |
A Bossbug attacks a single party member and destroys itself.
Main Story[]
In the campfire story "The Nomads of the Sea," Teaks mentions how historians believe that the Docarri almost went extinct while crossing the territory of a gigantic Sea Slug. While historians argue what happened after, some believe that, in the Battle of Fate's Guyot, the Docarri sealed the Sea Slug away after realizing they could not defeat it. The key was split into three parts in the hopes that future heroes would finally defeat it.
While resting at a campfire, Resh'an's puppet points towards a spot on the map. After activating a switch on a floating island, the party finds three keys in the Sunken Docarri Ruins scattered throughout the world. When they are brought to the Sealed Docarri Ruins, the door opens, and a fight with the Sea Slug starts.
After its defeat, a cave behind it is revealed. However, the big treasure chest in there contains nothing. While the party asks what the point of the whole ordeal was, B'st suggests that maybe the Great Alchemist brought them there to get rid of this threat. Suddenly, the puppet starts rummaging around in his turban and pulls out the Aetherwood Cork. Seraï is surprised he had it on him the entire time, and the party leaves the ruins shortly after.

"Displayed XP" is the data the game presents upon completion of a battle, and this value is derived from the internal XP multiplied by 2 then multiplied by the party level (internal XP * 2 * party level = displayed XP). If the player levels up, then the data presented in the "Displayed XP" columns of this chart becomes inaccurate, as the true displayed value is the sum of the internal XP multiplied among multiple party levels.
