Skills are one of the four combat actions available to the party members in Sea of Stars. They allow for a variety of effects, such as dealing damage of a particular type, dealing splash damage, healing, or creating shields that negate damage entirely. Each party member has three skills as well as an ultimate skill. Every (non-ultimate) skill requires a certain amount of MP.

Ultimate skills do not require MP and can be used once the ultimate bar (located next to the combo point meter) is filled up during battle, which can be achieved by doing combo attacks and using skills. Each combo point used fills up 1/6 of the ultimate bar, while each MP used fills up 1/60 of the ultimate bar. The bar gets emptied after using an ultimate attack, and after combat ends.

Zale[]

Healing Light[]

Healing Light is performed by Zale and costs 4 MP by default. The skill heals himself or another party member. It uses the M. ATK stat.

Zale imbues his sword with sun magic then raises it into the air, which causes a golden light to spiral around the target from the ground upward until it reaches the peak, just above their head. A timed hit can be executed right as the spiraling golden light reaches its peak, causing a burst of particles to appear overhead.

Dash Strike[]

Dash Strike is performed by Zale and costs 7 MP by default, striking all enemies 2 times in a row. The first strike removes 1 Sword lock each, then the second strike removes 1 Sun lock each. The skill uses both the ATK and M. ATK stats.

Zale places slash marks on each enemy and then raises his sword to trigger the damage. A timed hit can be executed when Zale raises his sword.

Sunball[]

Sunball is performed by Zale and costs 8 MP by default, striking a single enemy, and any nearby enemies, 1 time. The skill removes 1 Sun lock each. It uses the M. ATK stat.

Zale conjures a ball of fire that slowly swells in size, then he releases it. The game will instruct the player to hold down the "Confirm" button, and the fireball will grow from its starting size of small, to medium, to large, to super-size, and then shrink back to large. A timed hit can be performed by releasing the button as the Sunball reaches its maximum size but before it shrinks again.

Ultimate - Solen's Light: Salvation[]

Zale's ultimate skill, Solen's Light: Salvation, costs a full ultimate bar, striking all enemies 6 times in a row. The skill removes all Sun locks. It uses the M. ATK stat, though its total damage output is subtly influenced by the ATK stat.

Zale turns into his Solen form and flies upwards into the sky, landing on a floating piece of land above the clouds. He then conjures a massive Sunball, leaps onto it, and slams it onto the enemies with his blade. Since Solen's Light: Salvation is an ultimate skill, it does not have a timed hit.

Valere[]

Crescent Arc[]

Crescent Arc is performed by Valere and costs 6 MP by default, striking a single enemy, and any nearby enemies, 1 time. The skill removes 1 Moon lock and 1 Blunt lock each. It uses both the ATK and M. ATK stats.

Valere swings her staff in a sweeping arc, creating a crescent moon shape in the process. A timed hit can be executed right as the staff strikes the enemy.

Moonerang[]

Moonerang is performed by Valere and costs 7 MP by default. At minimum, the skill strikes a single enemy 1 time, but it can strike multiple enemies multiple times, removing 1 Moon lock with each hit. The skill uses the M. ATK stat.

Valere throws a moon-shaped boomerang at a single enemy, which bounces off of the target and returns to her. Timing a hit right as the Moonerang returns to Valere causes the projectile to bounce to the next enemy. The process repeats, cycling through all enemies in the same order, and the projectile speeds up with each hit. Moonerang continues indefinitely until an input is missed.

Lunar Shield[]

Lunar Shield is performed by Valere and costs 11 MP by default, though its cost is lowered by 2 MP by equipping the Moonstone Bracer. The skill slightly and equally heals the entire active party and applies a one-time shield on each active party member. It uses the M. ATK stat.

Valere shoots a beam of moonlight into the sky, which causes a beam to fall onto each party member, intensify in size, then create a spherical shield that orbits around the target. A timed hit can be executed as the beams land onto the ground.

A Lunar Shield completely negates the next damage inflicted to that character, though a select variety of enemy attacks ignores the shield, such as Crystal Tulip's Detonate skill, Abstarak's True Terror skill, the Dweller of Dread's Grab skill, Elysan'darëlle's Crystal Touch skill, Elysan'darëlle's Shatter skill, the Gun Goddess's The Shot skill, Sea Slug's Tantrum skill, Aephorul's regular attack, and Aephorul's Sap skill. Multiple Lunar Shields can be stacked with no upper limit.

Ultimate - Luana's Might: Retribution[]

Valere's ultimate skill, Luana's Might: Retribution, costs a full ultimate bar, striking all enemies 6 times in a row. The skill removes all Moon locks. It uses the M. ATK stat, though its total damage output is subtly influenced by the ATK stat.

Valere turns into her Luana form and flies upwards onto a tall rock to meditate in the moonlight. She then throws down four moons, which create beams of lights when they land before jumping down herself. The moonbeams circle around and close in on Valere, who plunges her staff into the ground, creating a massive beam. Since Luana's Might: Retribution is an ultimate skill, it does not have a timed hit.

Garl[]

Hurl[]

Hurl is performed by Garl and costs 3 MP by default, striking a single enemy 1 time. The skill removes 1 Blunt lock. If the targeted enemy has the property of being displaced, the skill displaces the targeted enemy, positioning it next to another enemy at random. The skill uses the ATK stat.

Garl lifts the enemy onto his pot lid, holds them above his head, then launches them into the air. A timed hit can be executed right as Garl throws the enemy, causing it to launch further into the air, often going off-screen.

The enemies Bushtroo and Boulbe are exempt from being targeted with Hurl. Certain bosses are also exempt from being targeted, including the Elder Mist and his sword, the Chromatic Apparition, the Botanical Horror and its flower limbs, and the Dweller of Torment and its arms.

Certain enemies during certain mini-boss and boss battles can be targeted with Hurl but will not be displaced, such as the Salamander, Malkomud, One, Three, Two, Four, Leaf Monster, and Aephorul and his summons.

Nourish[]

Nourish is performed by Garl and costs 7 MP by default. The skill heals himself or another party member. It uses the M. ATK stat.

Garl searches through his backpack in two circular motions before pulling the snack out, consuming it himself or tossing it at an ally. A timed hit can be executed at the end of the second bag search, when Garl stops moving his hand right before he pulls the item out, causing a half-sandwich to appear instead of an apple.

Cooker Surprise[]

Cooker Surprise is performed by Garl and costs 7 MP by default, striking a single enemy, and any nearby enemies, 1 time. The skill removes 1 Blunt lock each. It uses the ATK stat, though its total damage output is subtly influenced by the M. ATK stat.

Garl pulls a cooking pot out of his backpack and throws it at the enemy; the pot shakes as the pressure builds up inside of it, and after it stop shaking, it explodes. A timed hit can be executed the moment the explosion occurs.

Ultimate - Sleeper's Fury[]

Garl's ultimate skill, Sleeper's Fury, costs a full ultimate bar, striking all enemies 6 times in a row. The skill removes all Venom, Moon, Blunt, Arcane, Sword, and Sun locks. It uses both the ATK and M. ATK stats.

Garl runs around a land of floating platforms above the clouds before being picked up by Wentworth, who then fires a beam of fire at the opponents. Since Sleeper's Fury is an ultimate skill, it does not have a timed hit.

Seraï[]

Venom Flurry[]

Venom Flurry is performed by Seraï and costs 6 MP by default. At minimum, the skill strikes 3 different times for up to 3 enemies, but it can strike all enemies multiple times, removing 1 Venom lock with each hit. The skill uses the M. ATK stat.

Seraï jumps, puts two portals on the ground, jumps into one, and pops out of the other, throwing a kunai at a single enemy at the apex of each jump. The attack repeats, cycling through all enemies in the same order, and speeding up with each hit. Seraï automatically throws the first three kunais, even without any timed inputs, but further kunais require timed hits from the third kunai onward in order to continue the attack. A timed hit can be executed at the apex of each jump. Venom Flurry continues indefinitely until an input is missed.

Disorient[]

Disorient is performed by Seraï and costs 7 MP by default, striking a single enemy 1 time. The skill removes 1 Venom lock and 1 Blunt lock, and delays its turn counter by 1. Disorient uses only the ATK stat, though a portion of the M. ATK stat is also incorporated if the player boosts with Live Mana.

Seraï kicks an opponent, causing the enemy to spin in a circle and be pushed back a little bit before the enemy returns to its original location. A timed hit can be executed when Seraï fully raises her leg.

Prior to the "Dawn of Equinox" game update, Disorient's turn delay was 2 instead of 1.

Phase Shiv[]

Phase Shiv is performed by Seraï and costs 9 MP by default. The skill strikes a single enemy, 1 time if it is untimed, or 2 times in a row if it is timed. Each strike removes 1 Venom lock and 1 Sword lock, removing a total of 2 each if the attack is timed. The skill uses both the ATK and M. ATK stats.

Seraï creates portals to teleport behind (or at least next to) an enemy, then flips her dagger into the air before backstabbing them. A timed hit can be executed as she stabs the enemy, causing her to stab the enemy a second time.

Ultimate - Vespertine Cannons[]

Seraï's ultimate skill, Vespertine Cannons, costs a full ultimate bar, striking all enemies 7 times in a row. The skill removes all Blunt and Sword locks. It uses the ATK stat, though its total damage output is subtly influenced by the M. ATK stat.

Seraï creates a portal and enters it, returning as her Captain Klee'shaë alter ego, alongside her entire pirate crew. They then do a quick spin before a cinematic of The Vespertine plays, which bombards the enemy with cannonballs. Since Vespertine Cannons is an ultimate skill, it does not have a timed hit.

Resh'an[]

Abeyance[]

Abeyance is performed by Resh'an and costs 6 MP by default. The skill strikes the targeted enemy and any enemies that have the property of being displaced 3 times in a row, pulling them closer to the targeted enemy. It removes 3 Arcane locks each. It uses the M. ATK stat.

Resh'an collapses both of his vial halves into a miniature black hole, then sends it at the targeted enemy; the black hole is visible during the first hit, dissipates upon the second hit, and creates an explosion upon the third hit. A timed hit can be executed as the third and final hit occurs.

Certain enemies are immune to being displaced, which coincides with the group of enemies exempt from being targeted with or displaced with Garl's Hurl skill. These enemies include Hydralion and its tail, the Guardian, Meduso and its canisters, Abstarak, Brother Casugin, Rachater, The Catalyst and its accompanying enemies, the Dweller of Dread and its tentacles, the Soul Curator, Elysan'darëlle and her crystal prisons, the Gun Goddess and her bullets, the Sea Slug (though its Bossbugs are still displaceable), Croustalion (though its Measure Chests are still displaceable), Romaya and her necromancy piles, and Aephorul and his summons.

Ebb[]

Ebb is performed by Resh'an and costs 8 MP by default, striking a single enemy 1 time. The skill deals typeless damage and removes 1 random lock. It uses the M. ATK stat, and it uniquely ignores the enemy's M. DEF stat.

Resh'an jumps above the enemy then throws his vial down onto them, creating a spiral-shaped explosion. A timed hit can be executed as the vial strikes the enemy.

Prior to the "Dawn of Equinox" game update, Ebb removed 1 lock by default, 1 lock for a timed hit, and an additional lock for each boost, which allowed for the removal of anywhere from 1 to 5 locks.

Petrichor[]

Petrichor is performed by Resh'an and costs 12 MP by default. The skill equally heals the entire active party. It uses the M. ATK stat.

Resh'an throws one vial half above his head, then the other half; the two halves collide into each other and create an explosion of purple sparkles. A timed hit can be executed as the second half of the vial leaves Resh'an's hand, causing it to ascend instantly.

Ultimate - The Great Eagle[]

Resh'an's ultimate skill, The Great Eagle, costs a full ultimate bar, striking all enemies 5 times in a row. The skill removes all Venom locks, delays all enemy turn counters by 1, heals the entire active party, and revives any knocked-out party members. It uses the M. ATK stat, though its total damage output is subtly influenced by the ATK stat.

Resh'an turns into the Great Eagle before flying upwards and glowing with light rays. He then flies down, dropping loads of potion flasks twice in a straight line. Since The Great Eagle is an ultimate skill, it does not have a timed hit.

Prior to the "Dawn of Equinox" game update, The Great Eagle's turn delay was 3 instead of 1.

B'st[]

Elbow Drop[]

Elbow Drop is performed by B'st and costs 7 MP by default, striking a single enemy 1 time. The skill removes 1 Arcane lock and 1 Blunt lock. It uses both the ATK and M. ATK stats.

B'st transforms into a ball and bounces on the ground three times in a row; at the apex of his third jump, he changes back to normal with his elbow raised, crashing down into the enemy. 3 times hits are possible: a timed hit can be executed during the second and third times B'st hits the ground, as well as on contact with the enemy.

Warble[]

Warble is performed by B'st and costs 8 MP by default. The skill heals himself or another party member, or revives a knocked-out party member. It uses the M. ATK stat.

B'st begins to sing with his eyes closed; his body bobs back and forth in rhythm to the four music notes he sings, opening his eyes as he holds the final note. A timed hit can be executed as B'st sings the fourth and final note.

Power Smash[]

Power Smash is performed by B'st and costs 8 MP by default. The skill strikes a single enemy when untimed, or all enemies when timed, 1 time. It removes 1 Arcane lock each. It uses the M. ATK stat, though its total damage output is subtly influenced by the ATK stat.

B'st jumps into the air and spikes an arcane ball towards the enemy. A timed hit can be executed the moment before the projectile hits the enemy, causing additional projectiles to appear and hit the remaining enemies.

Ultimate - Altered B'st[]

B'st's ultimate skill, Altered B'st, costs a full ultimate bar, striking all enemies 7 times in a row. The skill removes all Arcane locks. It uses the M. ATK stat, though its total damage output is subtly influenced by the ATK stat.

B'st turns into a droplet and flies upwards, clinging to a pink tree high up. He then drops down, splashes onto the ground, and forms a big pink puddle. He then attacks the enemies by forming himself into a crocodile and attacking with his jaws. Since Altered B'st is an ultimate skill, it does not have a timed hit.
