Boss Fight[]

Overview[]

The Catalyst is fought with Zale, Valere, Seraï, Resh'an, and B'st as the available party members. The Repeaters, Salvoers, Repair Units, and Blasters have Haste naturally applied to their timers.

Three sets of enemies must be defeated in order to reveal the weakpoint of The Catalyst. The first two sets are linked with doors that are permanently destroyed after removing the enemies attached to them. The third set of enemies resides on pillars nearby The Catalyst, which, after being removed, can respawn if The Catalyst's HP is not depleted quickly enough. During the transition to the second and third sets of enemies, all Live Mana is removed, any knocked-out party members are revived, and the total the number of times they have been knocked out is reset, though HP, MP, CP, ultimate bar, and Lunar Shields for the party are otherwise retained.

Certain defeated enemies reveal another enemy underneath them, which is indicated by the enemy being attached to a gray outer casing. Otherwise, the enemy is attached to a flattened dark blue surface if there is no enemy underneath it. The enemy underneath inherits the turn counter of the defeated enemy, and this timer does not decrement until the next turn.

The first door consists of 2 Repeaters that each reveal a Salvoer after being defeated. The second door consists of 2 Salvoers and 2 Repeaters; a defeated Salvoer reveals a Repair Unit, while a defeated Repeater reveals a Blaster. The third set of enemies initially consists of 2 Salvoers and 4 Blasters; a defeated Salvoer reveals a Repair Unit.

When the third set of enemies is destroyed, it reveals The Catalyst's weakpoint and a 3-turn timer. If The Catalyst's HP is not depleted quickly enough, then the weakpoint becomes unavailable again, and a new set of enemies spawns. The enemies that appear during each respawn are in fixed numbers and positions.

Iteration Enemies
Iteration 1, and every 7x-6 iteration 2 Salvoers and 4 Blasters
Iteration 2, and every 7x-5 iteration 4 Salvoers and 2 Blasters

Iteration 4, and every 7x-3 iteration 2 Salvoers and 4 Blasters

Iteration 6, and every 7x-1 iteration 3 Salvoers and 3 Blasters
Iteration 7, and every 7x iteration 2 Salvoers and 4 Blasters

In any iteration, a defeated Salvoer reveals a Repair Unit. This looping pattern repeats until The Catalyst is destroyed.

Notes[]

  1. "Displayed XP" is the data the game presents upon completion of a battle, and this value is derived from the internal XP multiplied by 2 then multiplied by the party level (internal XP * 2 * party level = displayed XP). If the player levels up, then the data presented in the "Displayed XP" columns of this chart becomes inaccurate, as the true displayed value is the sum of the internal XP multiplied among multiple party levels.
